How do you access the Delta?
In the Delta there are no roads that allow access by car. In order to reach a certain establishment on an island in the Delta, there is the means of transport of the locals: the typical ferries, or ‘bus boats’, which work in a manner similar to an urban bus line.
How do the ferries work?
Each of the ferries follows a specific navigation route with regular schedules. They depart from the Tigre River Station ‘Domingo Faustino Sarmiento’, located at Mitre 305.
There are three companies providing this service:

- Interisleña: Ticket offices 3 and 4. Phone number: 4749-0900
- Tickets are valid for 30 calendar days.
What is the child passenger ticket age limit?
Children aged five and under are entitled to travel for free on the ferry boat, then full fare has to be paid for children aged 6 years or older. Retirees pay for tickets at the standard rate.
May I travel free of charge if I hold a Certificate of Disability?
By submitting the Certificate of Disability granted by the Province of Buenos Aires, you can travel free of charge on the ferry boats, but not on boats belonging to private companies.
Can I buy tickets in advance?
Yes, you can buy tickets in advance. We recommend that you buy your ticket in advance during the high season, given that the demand on weekends is high.
Do the ferry boats work on rainy days?
Both passenger ferry boats and river tours operate normally. Due to fog or low water, certain routes may be canceled or modified.
Where can I buy tickets?
Tickets are purchased at the ticket offices located at the Tigre River Station. Each boat operator has its own ticket office. Líneas Delta: Ticket office 1 Jilguero: Ticket office 2 Interisleña: Ticket offices 3 and 4 Payment for tickets is in cash or by debit card.
Can pets travel on the ferry boat?
If the pet is a guide dog, it may travel with the passenger. Otherwise, the ferry boat companies request that pets travel in their kennel, on the deck of the boat. Alternatively, you may hire a private boat to travel with your pet.
Ferry boat schedules
The schedules are provided by the Ministry of Transport of the Province of Buenos Aires: https://www.minfra.gba.gob.ar/web/Transporte/fluvial.php They are subject to modification, depending on water conditions. We suggest confirming them by contacting the corresponding company.
Can you get off at any dock?
Private docks are for the exclusive use of their owner, as well as embarkation and disembarkation in the event of an emergency. You may not stay or fish without the owner's express authorization. Public docks are for the exclusive use of embarkation and disembarkation. It is forbidden to loiter, fish or jump into the river.
Where can I shop in the Delta?
In the Delta, there are warehouse boats, which provide food and supplies. If staying in a cabin complex, you can check with them in advance for the schedules of this service and whether there are any local food suppliers accessible by foot in the area.
Can you swim in the river?
There are tourist attractions, such as recreational facilities with a sandy waterfront, where you can bathe in the river at your own risk, as it is forbidden to bathe in the river without the presence of lifeguards.
Are there public islands?
There are no public islands, but there are a variety of establishments such as recreational facilities where you can spend the day after buying a full-day ticket, restaurants to have lunch, among others offering outdoor activities.
Where can I have a picnic?
You can only have a picnic at the recreation facilities; there are no public spaces that allow you to take food.
Can you visit the Tigre Hotel?
The Tigre Hotel was demolished in the 1940s. Today, in its place, stands the Honorable Deliberative Council. Next to it is the now defunct Tigre Club, the first casino in Argentina. This building is commonly confused with the Tigre Hotel. After a remodeling, it opened its doors as the Tigre Art Museum in 2006.
Does the Puerto de Frutos open every day?
The Puerto de Frutos is open every day of the year, weekdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (It only closes on December 25th and January 1st.) The market is open on weekdays, but out of the more than 300 vendors that occupy the premises ‘only’ roughly 20% will be open. This varies according to the day of the week, as on Mondays the percentage of open vendors is lower and on Fridays it is higher. It’s worth a trip all the same!
Is there a campsite in town?
The campsites are located in the Delta, so you will have to travel by boat.
Are there bike or car rentals?
There are currently no bicycle or car rentals.
Is there a shuttle van service or transfers from the City of Buenos Aires?
There are none, but you can arrive by train, bus or boat.
Is there a place to store luggage?
